II. Operating Method
1. Key
: Press the
key to turn on the instrument power supply, and it will automatically switch to the measurement state. Press the key
again to turn off the instrument and cut off the power supply.
2. P-Unit button: Pressure unit selection. Pressing this button repeatedly allows for switching between MPa (Pa), kPa, psi, mmH2O, inH2O, mmHg, inHg, kg/cm2, mbar, bar, and other units (the number of units varies depending on the measurement range).
3. E-Fun button: used to select current, voltage, or pressure switch measurement functions.
4. P-Zero button: Press this button to reset the pressure display to zero before measurement. The CPU inside the instrument will perform zero point processing to ensure accurate measurement data. E-Zero button: Press this button to reset to zero without current or voltage before measurement.
5. RE/CAL button: returns to the main pressure unit button (also serves as a menu calibration button).
6. PEAK button: Displays the peak value during the current measurement. Pressing this button repeatedly toggles between the maximum value HI and the minimum value LO. Pressing P-Zero resets to zero and starts recording again.
7. Backlight key: Turns the backlight on and off.
8. 5/6 (CONFIG) key: After pressing the P-Unit key, pressing this key selects between 5-digit or 6-digit display.
9. MENU: Menu button. When calibration is needed: First, press and hold the MENU button -- then press and hold the backlight button -- release the MENU button -- release the backlight button. The left side displays "CP" and the upper right corner displays "CAL" along with the menu icon, indicating that the menu is open. At this point, press the 5/6 button three times and hear a beep to officially enter the menu. The left side displays "PF": Pressure full-scale 3-point calibration. First, reset the pressure to zero, then pressurize to the positive pressure full scale. If the pressure display differs from your standard by more than the tolerance, press the CAL button once to calibrate the positive pressure full scale to match your standard. Then, apply negative pressure to the negative full scale. If there is an out-of-tolerance, follow the same steps as above. Press the MENU button twice again, and the right side displays the current sampling rate. Press the PEAK button to increase or press the backlight button to decrease the rate, switching between 1-3 (3 times/second), 1-5 (5 times/second), 1-10 (10 times/second), and 1-20 (20 times/second).
10. Testing the transmitter: The instrument is equipped with a DC24V power supply (do not short circuit). When testing the transmitter, simply turn on the instrument to the electrical measurement function, connect it to the transmitter according to the wiring instructions on the instrument panel, and then the transmitter can be tested.
11. Over-range alarm: This instrument features an over-range alarm function. When the applied pressure exceeds a certain amount of the rated full scale, the instrument will display flashing and the built-in buzzer will sound intermittently to indicate that the pressure or current/voltage has exceeded the full range. At this time, you should stop applying pressure and remove some of it to bring it within the specified range, so as to avoid damaging the pressure sensor.
III. Application Scenarios
Precision verification in metrological sites: It can serve as a standard verification device for metrological departments, used for periodic verification, accuracy calibration, and traceability of measurement values of various pressure instruments such as pressure gauges, pressure transmitters, pressure sensors, and pressure switches.
Industrial production site calibration: Widely used in the production sites of petroleum, chemical, power, metallurgical, industrial, and mining enterprises, it involves routine calibration, fault diagnosis, and precision adjustment of in-service pressure instruments on the production line.
Special industry equipment testing: It can be paired with a handheld air pressure pump and a calibration station for pressure system verification of ships, special equipment, hydraulic equipment, and pneumatic equipment.
Laboratory R&D and Testing: Suitable for the R&D and performance testing of pressure-related products in universities, research institutions, and corporate laboratories.
IV. Precautions
1. When the instrument is not in use, the power should be turned off. If it is not used for a long time, it should be discharged and charged once every three months.
2. The instrument has sufficient overload capacity, but do not overload it severely, otherwise it may cause damage to the instrument sensor, rendering the instrument unusable.
3. Instrument sensors are high-precision products. The surface of the silicon diaphragm must not collide with solids, otherwise the sensor will be damaged.
4. Do not open for maintenance, nor adjust internal components or replace materials, as this will compromise the reliability of the instrument.
5. Usage and verification requirements: In situations where there is a significant temperature difference between indoors and outdoors, please preheat the instrument for 2 hours in the usage or verification environment to allow it to reach thermal equilibrium before proceeding with usage and verification.
V. Conclusion
The ALKC400E digital pressure calibrator (gauge pressure type/absolute pressure type/differential pressure type) can serve not only as a high-accuracy calibration standard (gauge) but also as a working instrument. It is widely used in sectors such as metallurgy, petroleum, chemical industry, electric power, and metrology.
